Peabody
Apartments replaces existing housing located in the between the
Columbus Regional Medical Center and the Waverly Terrace Historic
District. It is adjacent to the new trolley line that links the
Peabody site to downtown on the south and Columbus State
University on the north.
The new
community features a vibrant, attractive, mixed-use, mixed-income
neighborhood, where people of all economic strata, races, and
cultures will live, learn, work, play and raise their families in
close proximity to abundant employment, retail and cultural
opportunities.
Residential blocks
feature townhouses and flats facing a chain of parks. A
neighborhood center of office and retail space is planned around a
central roundabout, anchoring the community.
Extensive new infrastructure will be created
to develop the neighborhood city block street pattern for the new
community and to strengthen linkages and create continuity with
the adjacent downtown core.
